Dr Patrycja Jonetzko

Expedition Doctor | Consultant Anaesthetist | Altitude & Critical Care Transfer Specialist

Patrycja is an experienced expedition doctor and consultant anaesthetist with a passion for providing high-quality, evidence-based care, including critical organ support, in remote high-mountain environments. For two decades, she’s supported climbs on some of the world’s highest mountains — from her first Everest expedition in 2006, through Broad Peak and K2 attempts, to Andrzej Bargiel’s historic 2025 Everest ski descent without supplemental oxygen. Her journey in high-altitude medicine began at 4,500m in Machermo, Nepal, where she spent a season in a mountain rescue post in the Gokyo Ri Valley.

Beyond mountaineering expeditions, Patrycja works privately with several expedition and trekking agencies supporting trekking on every continent both in-person and via tele-medical support. Her passion also lies in increasing general knowledge about altitude adaptation, and have recorded podcasts and lectured as an invited speaker on this topic.

Patrycja’s greatest professional satisfaction comes from helping people achieve their high-altitude objectives whether they are professional athletes or only beginning to dream about high-altutude endeavours. She also specialises in supporting clients with complex medical backgrounds reach high places safely.

A graduate of the Silesian Medical Academy (Poland), Patrycja also holds a Doctorate from the Medical University of Innsbruck (Austria), a Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) in the UK and Diplomas from Mahidol University (Thailand) and Johns Hopkins University (USA). She works a full time as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiologist and Critical Care Transfer Consultant at academic hospitals in Plymouth and Bristol, as well as private hospitals in London, UK. 

When not at work or on an expedition you will find her enjoying thin air backcountry skiing in Val d’Isere!
