Pre-season Training

Pre-season training is the main time of the season that professional sports clubs are able to improve the fitness levels of their players.

We have been busy working with six Premier League football clubs, installing an altitude chamber at one and mask-based systems at five others. The systems are great for accelerating the fitness of players as well as conditioning athletes who are load compromised due to injury. This will help to speed up the recovery of players who are suffering from injury as the decline in fitness levels will be less significant than they would be without the addition of simulated altitude training to their rehabilitation programme.

In the world of Rugby Union we have installed a chamber at Worcester Warriors (photo below).

The Altitude Centre Ireland has also installed our 6m x 6m altitude chamber at Leinster Rugby in University College Dublin (UCD). The temporary facility can accommodate up to twelve players and is a crucial element to their pre season training also. The chamber houses an anti-gravity treadmill allowing players to gain the rehabilitation benefits of altitude training without applying high physical loads to injuries.

More and more evidence is emerging on the benefits of altitude training on sprint performance as well as resistance training benefits. UCD will be using the facilities to conduct a research project on the benefits of altitude training on field sports performance.
