At the beginning of May, the Fiji Sevens rugby team came to our City of London centre to train ahead of the final leg of the IRB Sevens World Series in Twickenham.

Performance Specialists Tara and Georgia put the athletes through their paces with a 30-minute high intensity intervals class at 3000m. The team were also given a tough workout with Shaun Stafford from our Trump Street partner gym, City Athletic.

The team worked incredibly hard and really enjoyed their first foray into hypoxic training, something they had never experienced before. Upon finishing their session in the chamber, we were greeted with a traditional “thank you” song from the Fijians. View their performance here.

After training with us, the team did exceptionally well at Twickenham, finishing fourth in the tournament and third overall in the HSBC Sevens World Series. Fijian flyer Samisoni Viriviri was announced as the 2014 IRB Sevens Player of the Year in association with HSBC.

We also welcomed in TV presenter and Splash! contestant Anna Williamson, who wrote about her love of hypoxic training for Hello! magazine.
